For books, magazines, publications, cards, mugs - whatever. My pictures and drawings support and illustrate serious or humorous texts and stories. Many are from my own inspiration, but I will also accept commissions based on your own ideas!

The Creative Process .......

The first thing is the idea ...... the complete sentence or a chapter of a book for example cannot always be illustrated as a whole. However, usually amongst the jungle of words, a little light appears .... you can imagine .... a tiny germ of an idea that niggles and festers in the dark ....

 

There are barriers to overcome: pencils to sharpen, lost erasers, lack of ink; there are various Work Displacement Options to over-ride, like feeding the cat or hoovering - but eventually the looming deadline, that ever-efficient midwife, arrives and pushes our infant idea out on to the big white empty paper.

 

There it can grow and develop until I send the draft copy to the client for approval and then finally finish the picture off in ink and water colour.
